THE TRUTH HURTS, BUT IT ALSO SETS YOU FREE …
On June 12, ABC News’ Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos conducted an interview with President Trump.
Stephanopoulos asked the President if his son, Don Jr., should have notified the FBI when approached by a Russian lawyer claiming to have ‘dirt’ on Hilary Clinton. Trump said politicians accept opposition research on their opponents all the time. Stephanopoulos asked Trump a follow-up hypothetical question: “If your 2020 campaign is approached by foreigners, like Russia or China, with information on your opponents, should they accept it or call the FBI?” Trump replied: “I think maybe you do both. I think you might want to listen. If somebody called, from a country — Norway — we have information on your opponent. Oh, I think I’d want to hear it. There’s nothing wrong with listening. If there was something wrong, then maybe I’d go to the FBI.”
Of course, Democrats immediately overreacted to Trump’s hypothetical answer to a hypothetical question by claiming he has yet again committed treason. Throw another log onto the impeachment fire!
Equally disgusting and unsurprising is the Democrats’ blatant hypocrisy. The same party accusing Trump of hypothetical treason by imagining he might listen to another country’s leader who had information on his opponent is the same party that is guilty of considering and actually doing much worse:

We believe Democrats and their media collaborators are suddenly redefining the acquisition of opposition research as a treasonous act because they fear foreign governments might give Trump unflattering or corrupt information about Joe Biden during the 2020 campaign. Biden was chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Vice President, with privileged access to top officials in governments around the world. He may have skeletons hidden in foreign closets that would damage the Dems’ dream of unseating Trump if they ever saw the light of day. For example, news stories have been popping up frequently these days about Biden’s possible corrupt behavior in Ukraine and China:
Call us unnecessarily suspicious and conspiracy theorists, but … Given the cozy relationship between the mainstream media and Democrats — George Stephanopoulos was a long-time advisor to the Democratic Party and former Clinton White House Communications Director before joining ABC News and donating more than $75,000 to the Clinton Foundation — it wouldn’t surprise us if Stephanopoulos’ clumsy interview attempt to get Trump to swear off foreign opposition research in the 2020 campaign was coordinated with the DNC to protect Biden.
The interesting thing about candidate information disclosed by foreigners meddling in the 2016 presidential election was that the embarrasing dirt dug up on Trump (Steele Dossier) was false while the embarrassing dirt dug up on Clinton and the DNC (hacked emails) was true.
We condemn any and all interference in U.S. elections, especially that which violates our laws and privacy rights. But we should be careful not to discourage the disclosure of legally obtained and truthful information … wherever it may come from … as the truth hurts, but it also sets you free.
