TOP GUN: MAVERICK

GOOD FOR AMERICA AND OUR MILITARY …

We have bad news for democratic-socialists, liberal doves, radical feminists, flag burners, anthem kneelers, fake victims of toxic masculinity, and U.S. naval adversaries … the movie Top Gun: Maverick is debuting in summer 2020.

Why is the sequel to the hit movie, Top Gun, the highest-grossing film of 1986, bad news for these folks?

For the woke crowd, this movie will undoubtedly contain an inordinate amount of patriotism and Y chromosomes, anathema to today’s sniveling snowflakes. They’re probably organizing protests, boycotts and congressional indictments as we write. We can hear them now … “How could anyone, especially in Hollywood, have the gall and insensitivity to produce a military-themed movie that emboldens the jingoistic, misogynistic and racist patriarchy within this failing country.”

For U.S. naval adversaries, Top Gun: Maverick will probably have the same positive impact on U.S. military recruitment that the original Top Gun movie had after it debuted:

John Davis, motion picture producer: “Top Gun was a recruiting video for the Navy. People saw the movie and said, ‘Wow! I want to be a pilot.”

United States Navy: “After release of the film, the number of young men who enlisted, wanting to be Naval aviators, went up by 500 percent.”

U.S. Naval Institute’s magazine Proceedings: “The number of uniformed personnel in all branches of the military increased by 20,000 over the previous year – about 16,000 of those were just in the Navy.”

If the military has a greater quantity of applicants for a fixed need, then, by default, the quality of selected recruits will improve. Good for the U.S., bad for our adversaries.

We applaud director Joseph Kosinski for having the guts to produce an apolitical film that allows us to be proud of our selfless military, feel good about our country, and enjoy some old-fashioned, fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants, heart-thumping, adrenaline-rushing, testosterone-gushing, FUN.

Maybe our heroes, patriots and traditions are dying, and maybe rising threats from China, Russia and Iran will challenge our military for superiority, but not today.
